Exterior Renovation & Siding
Scope of Work
Full exterior siding replacement and architectural trim renovation on an Oceanside coastal home. Removed degraded wood siding, inspected exterior framing for ocean air rot, wrapped the structure with drainable weather-resistant barrier, and installed James Hardie fiber cement lap siding with low-maintenance PVC trim boards and marine-grade stainless fasteners.
Materials & Specifications
The Problem & Local Climate Challenge
The home's original cedar lap siding had succumbed to decades of coastal fog, marine layer moisture, and termite damage. The wood was warping, paint was peeling down to raw grain, and moisture had begun reaching the exterior wall sheathing. The homeowner wanted a durable, low-maintenance exterior capable of withstanding the harsh marine climate without rotting or requiring frequent repainting.
Technical Solution & Engineering Execution
As a licensed exterior contractor in Oceanside, our siding installation crew stripped the damaged siding, treated the substrate, and installed high-permeability house wrap with taped seams to prevent moisture entrapment. We installed non-combustible James Hardie fiber cement siding with ColorPlus technology, engineered specifically for coastal UV and moisture exposure. We trimmed windows and corners with rot-proof cellular PVC trim and sealed all exterior joints with elastomeric sealant, providing long-term curb appeal and Class-A fire resistance.
