Located within two miles of the Oceanside coastline, this home experienced persistent salt spray, heavy marine layer condensation, and strong afternoon coastal gusts. The original 3-tab shingle roof was over 22 years old, showing severe granule loss, lifted tabs, and micro-cracking where moisture was beginning to wick into the wooden decking. As trusted local roofers in San Diego County, our inspection determined that an overlay would trap moisture and fail California building code CRC R908, requiring a complete structural tear-off.
Technical Solution & Engineering Execution
Our crew performed a clean two-day roof replacement. As a certified shingle roof contractor, we replaced rotted coastal plywood sheathing and installed dual-layer high-traction synthetic underlayment with self-adhering Ice & Water shield along the eaves and valleys. We installed Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration shingles engineered for 130 MPH wind resistance, complete with continuous ridge vents to balance attic thermal pressure. The finished roof passed Oceanside city inspection on the first visit with a non-prorated 50-year manufacturer warranty.
